Remember that kid that you’ve seen since he was 8 years old and was always shooting 3’s from his hip on the other side of the court, when the big kids played, and every time he wanted to play, you put him on the other team, cuz he was short and young, but everytime he hit a shot the whole parked cheered?
And then you left town, and grew up and of course he grows up too and you’re watching ESPN one day, and this is a decade later, and you see another college shooter from Davidson killing everybody in the tournament throwing up 3’s. You really don’t think about it too much because shooters come and go all the time.
You continue to watch this game and you realize that this shooter looks kinda familiar. You ultimately have the greatest epiphany of all time and come to the fact that this was the kid at the park and you have this uncanny respect for him now, and even though you really didn’t know him, you’re proud of him.
Then he goes pro and does the unthinkable multiple times, breaking records that really weren’t set yet, wins back to back MVP’s and you can’t help but laugh because you really can’t hate him, cuz he’s still that little kid shooting 3’s at the other half of the court, except this courts a little bigger and he’s a little taller.
This kid is Steph Curry.
